Import Policy of specific tariff line items (201 items of papers) under Chapter 48 of ITC (HS) 2022 has been revised from “Free” to “free subject to compulsory registration under Steel Import Monitoring systems (SIMS). Thus, w.e.f 01.10.2022 (i.e., bill of entry on or after 01.10.2022 for the said items) importers shall require compulsory registration under the Paper Import Monitoring systems (PIMS).

Paper Import Monitoring Systems shall require importer to submit advance information in an online system for import of above said items. On submission of online data /information the system will generate an automatic UNIQUE REGISTRATION NUMBER. No manual documents are required to be submitted to any public authority for this purpose.

Importer can apply for online registration not earlier than 75^th day and not later than 5^th day before the expected date of arrival of import consignment. The automatic registration number thus granted shall remain valid for a period of 75 days. Multiple bills of Entries shall be allowed in same registration number for the permitted quantity.

Steel Import Monitoring System (SIMS)

Import of Iran and steel items appearing in chapter 72,73 and 86 of ITC (HS) 2017 (all HS codes) shall require compulsory registration under the Steel Import Monitoring systems (SIMS).

Steel Import Monitoring Systems shall require importer to submit advance information in an online system for import of above said items. On submission of online data /information the system will generate an automatic UNIQUE REGISTRATION NUMBER. No manual documents are required to be submitted to any public authority for this purpose.

Importer can apply for online registration not earlier than 60^th day. The automatic registration number granted shall remain valid for a period of 75 days.
