All exporters of goods, services and technology having an Import Export Code (IEC) number shall be eligible for recognition as status holder. Status recognition will depend on the export performance. An applicant/exporter shall be categorise a status holder on achieving export performance during the current and previous three financial years (for Gems & jewellery sector the performance during the current and previous two financial year shall be considered for recognition as status holder). The export performance will be counted on the basis of FOB of export earning in freely convertible foreign currencies.

For granting status, export performance is necessary in at least 2 out of 4 years. Category of status given hereunder based on export performance: –

Exporters of following categories are eligible for double weightage for calculation of export performance for grant of status.

• Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) as defined in MSMED, Act 2006.
• Manufacturing units having ISO/BIS.
• Unit located in North eastern state including Sikkim and Jammu & Kashmir.
• Units located in Agri Export Zone.
